Recruitment of a Head of IT
Our client UDA Rapid Transit was formed in 2014 in order to provide accessible, safe and quality passenger transport services to customers in an efficient and cost effective manner. With a vision to be the largest regional road passengers transport operator in cities and towns of Eastern, Southern and Central Africa, linking regions and districts and connecting countries. The Company has recently been awarded the right to operate the Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (DART Project) they therefore wish to employ a Head of IT.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Head of IT will report to the CEO
The Head of IT will be accountable and responsible for, among others to:
•Build, manage and support a team of IS professionals (System Administrators, Desktop Support, etc);
•Assume overall responsibility for Information System security including strategic planning, auditing, management, patching, intrusion detection and penetration testing;
•Information Security Policy and FCA regulation and data compliance;
•Service performance measurement and reporting to support capacity planning;
•Participation in Disaster Recovery management and planning;
•Management and maintenance of automated deployment and server provisioning;
•Provision of out-of-hours infrastructure and network support in pursuance of maintaining 24/7 service provision;
•Manage incident and change control on critical systems and implementing fail-over strategies;
•Define and manage the services provided by the IS team, balancing customer need against affordability setting standard and managing user expectations and delivery in accordance with the agreed service levels;
•Monitor the IT budget which will include the planning, forecasting, monitoring and controlling of activities against budget and regular reporting and on-going financial review;
•Provide expertise and training to those in the IS team on new systems and the development of the back-up, monitoring and disaster recovery procedures for hardware, applications and data including document image storage; and
•Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A proven IT professional who can demonstrate effective management of a multi-site department within a mass service delivery environment, where disparate IT platforms have been consolidated into one, which provides the framework for operating a leading edge ERP and MRP system.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Engineering or a relevant degree from an accredited college/university;
•Minimum of 10 years of IT Infrastructure experience in the transport industry, at least 5 of which must be in a management position;
•Specific understanding of AFCs, RTPIs, FMS, Microsoft Dynamics, NAV and Customer care solutions;
•Capable of writing detailed requirements and specification documents based on project stakeholder requirements;
•Good communication skills both orally and in writing;
•Well organised and good project management skills; and
•Effective team leader, capable of raising the profile of the function as a business enabler.
