Recruitment of a Head of Finance for UDA Rapid TransitOur client UDA Rapid Transit was formed in 2014 in order to provide accessible, safe and quality passenger transport services to customers in an efficient and cost effective manner. With a vision to be the largest regional road passengers transport operator in cities and towns of Eastern, Southern and Central Africa, linking regions and districts and connecting countries. The Company has recently been awarded the right to operate the Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (DART Project) they therefore wish to employ a Head of Finance to assist the Company in achieving its goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Head of Finance will report to the CFO.The Head of Finance will be accountable and responsible for among others to:
•Assess future financing needs of the company, developing and evaluating alternatives and working with the CEO and Board of Directors to implement the chosen approaches;
•Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets and the budgeting process;
•Review all formal finance procedures and processes, recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward;
•Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all functions within the company;
•Develop and monitor business metrics, KPIs and other business analytics;
•Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution;
•Oversee cash flow planning and ensuring availability of funds as needed;
•Represent the company on financial matters with third parties, including financial institutions, shareholders, external auditors, TRA, DART Agency and other government machineries;
•Prepare and package board financial and operational papers; financial forecasts measuring impact on both profitability and cash flow and timely and accurate management reporting;
•Mentor and develop the finance and accounting staff;
•Oversee all audit activities; and
•Oversee the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS and effective internal controls are in place.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a CPA designation required; CFP, MST, or MBA are desirable but not required;•Previous advisory work to very high net worth individuals (with knowledge of family office best practices and approaches) alongside a genuine interest in being a senior financial leader within a complex, multi-entity operation;
•Expertise in financial control, analysis, budgeting and reporting;
•Proficient in tax compliance for individuals, trusts, private foundations and partnerships;
•Experience with philanthropy including private operating foundations, private foundations, public charities, and donor advised funds and all related accounting and legal requirements;
•Experience working with a Board of Directors and committees;
•Familiarity with political campaign finance rules and regulations is a plus; and
•Sophisticated user of finance technology, with experience streamlining and simplifying processes and reporting.
