A. Responsibilities
The clinical officer is responsible for
implement daily operational aspects of all issues related to new born part of IMCH initiative
Conduct capacity building (kick off training, follow up trainings, mentoring and coaching) to newborn health care service providers in the selected facilities
B. Tasks
1.Clinical tasks The clinical officer
Contributes to the development of newborn care improvement strategic and operational plan and budget
Is part of the clinical team in the RRH newborn unit as a trainer
Shall participate in trainings that will further develop the skills of the new born team to be able to deliver effectively as trainers, supervisors, mentors and coaches of new born health care providers according to MoHSW standards
Practically' supports facility newborn service providers to adapt and practice standardized, good quality day to day running of new born services, in particular the clinical and capacity development elements
Assures continuation of stable quality of care and treatment for Newborn patients in targeted facilities (e.g. strengthen internal/external communication with facility management, maternal health services etc.)
Advices and supports health facilities in strengthening effective data management according to MoHSW standards
Contributes to monitoring, and audit of processes relating to new born clinical practice and care i~ line with MoHSW guidelines and tools (e.g. the MNCH monitoring card)
2.Communication and networking
The clinical officer
Assists knowledge management: collects, processes and shares information within the new born team
Contributes ideas to resolve issues and improve new born work flow processes
Participates in relevant meetings and useful events
Other projects and duties as directed by the paediatric health department managers !
C. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Clinical Officer training ) from a known Tanzanian training institution
Good practical experience on new born Health care
Skills on IMCI
Trainer of IMCI is an asset
Knowledge on ICT (related software, phone, fax, email the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, excel)
willingness to travel (within the region) regularly
Good command of English and Kiswahili languages
